I've been working with textiles ever since I was a little girl and learned how to use a sewing machine. I cannot remember a time when I wasn't "making" something. When it came time for college I decided to pursue a degree in textiles, where my eyes were opened to the limitless possibilities they offer and the rich history surrounding them. I was fortunate enough to study under the tutelage of Warren Seelig, Sandra Brownlee, Sherry Gibson and Chris Parker.

I spent the next few years creating knitted wearables that were sold at craft galleries across the country - in Denver CO, Manassas VA, Cambridge, MA, PA and CT.

At one point I made the decision to pursue a career in Graphic Design, so I went back to school to qualify and spent the next several years working as a Graphic Designer in the greater Philadelphia area.

In recent years I started yearning for the tactile creativity textiles, especially my all time favorite, silk, can offer. I started hand dyeing and sewing with silk again and further developed my pieced silk technique. I've started creating different pieced silk textiles, such as wall hangings, wearables, handbags, pillows and other items. My textiles are created from one inch wide strips of hand dyed or printed silk fabrics of different weights and textures, such as silk dupioni, silk habotai, raw silk, silk velvet, broadcloth, or crepe de chine. When I have them all laid out, I use a satin stitch to seal the raw edges and add the element of line to my pieced silk textiles. I use mainly silk thread, sometimes rayon embroidery thread. My technique is applique of pieced silk fabrics, stitched with a freehand satin stitch embroidery.

My craft has come full circle, but I feel like I'm just at the beginning of this journey.
