As a textile artist, I have always been fascinated by silk. My most favorite thing would be to hand dye silk fabric or yarn or even thread - I have yet to come across a color I don't like. I would dye all varieties of silk fabrics, many times different fabrics in the same dyebath. After a while, I started accumulating quite a collection of bits and pieces of dyed silk fabrics. With all this colorful silk around me, I developed a method of cutting and piecing the various silk fabrics and sewing them together with a satin stitch. I started creating various pieced silk textiles, such as a wall hanging, a wedding jacket, pillows. I experimented with different threads to stitch my pieced silk designs together, but my most favorite is using silk thread - it has a luster that is unmatched by any other.
